My first story, and most recent experience with my dog Toffee. Nick name "Chainsaw" She does not do strangers,  and I was walking her out back behind my trailer and fell. I had an earlier fall that caused a concussion  that caused the second fall. I hit life alert but I couldn't talk to them so I waited and hit it again. 2 hits and no responce from me here come the Police. Before they got here a guy walking bye offered to help me, UhUh. She wouldn't let him near me. I'm thinking she's going to bite a cop, Oh hell!!! and here they are. First one in I tell him I have a dog and he says what' her name and he starts talking to her like she should understand him cause he don't speak dog. As he's talking to her she's staring at him listening to him. He told her like she was a 14 YO I'm here help. Next thing I know he says let me have her leash and he's right there, so I handed it to him. Let's see how this turns out He says Come on Toffey and she hauled her butt up and went with him. The other 2 came and got me up and helped me in the trailer and here we are all four and she was Cool. She knew they were here to help,...Then last week My blood sugar was cating up and I had to have the paramedics out, 3 of them came in, sort of the same uniforms and she laid with her head out of her den and just watched. Never barked one time and they were all over me. That's a Shar Pei way. They have an awesome sense about them.

Short stories and quips about the Shar Pei

I should start out that at this writing I am 80 Years old. I have Life Alert which will have importance in my first story. In these short stories all of which are actual days in the life with a Shar Pei or 17 as my close friend Barb has in North Carolina. She's Number 4 in the top 10 Shar Pei Breeders in the Country. I should point out that Toffee does not do strangers, period. She's been nicknamed "Chainsaw" She has a rep around here. If a customer comes in I can tell her "Go Lay Down" and she's okay but don't get around me which is right next to her den door, very protective of me. With this website I want to point out the intelligence, dedication and how they train themselves. A Shar Pei pays attention to their master and somehow they figure out on their own what to do. These stories will prove my point. Please enjoy

In my lifetime I have had an English Bull, 2 Boxers, 4 Dobermans and many Shar Peis. I have never found a breed to compare in any way. Enjoy my stories
